Burano

burano is a clash of color.

the blocky buildings lining its canals are a confetti of bright blues, shocking teals, brick reds and bubble-gum pinks. I’ve read that the fishermen who populated the island decades ago painted their homes this way in lieu of property lines, but now that Burano’s main moneymaker is tourism, the inhabitants (and tourism board?) seem to have dialed up the city’s vibrancy for the Instagram generation.

Either way, even on an overcast day, it just looks fun.
