why wine?

living in italy, it was probably inevitable for me to become infatuated with wine; it is truly everywhere. there are usually at least 3 old men in my little town quaffing down their first rosso at 9am while i'm just getting started on my cappuccino, and i love it. who wouldn't?

maybe it's my marketing background that finds me constantly exploring label designs & packaging innovations (like grappa cigarettes - they exist!)...maybe working in big beer for so long is why i end up chatting with winery owners about who their consumers are and how they distribute their products...maybe building communications programs for bartenders and liquor shops is what makes a visit with a vintner at an enoteca so interesting & personal.

i don't know. but what i do know, is that while i live here, surrounded by vineyards and some of the world's best - and yet to be discovered - wineries, i'm going to continue this intoxicating dive into italian wine culture.
